The Advantages of Studying Abroad

Every year students studying abroad are increasing. These days, there is a lot of competition over the world because of globalization. If someone does not want to be behind other people, they should go to foreign countries to study. A lot of people think that foreign countries have many things better than their home country. Particularly, many of them go to North America and Europe to fulfill their dream. Studying abroad has three major advantages. These include that to learn different culture, to study in better educational environment, and to make many friends.
The first advantage is to learn different culture. A lot of people who are from different countries live together in North America and Europe. As you know, every country has a unique culture, so people can share their own culture in society. These days, a lot of parents want to send their children to foreign countries to studying language because people never forget a memory when they learn in childhood. One day, I saw a television program that was story about children studying English in foreign countries. It said that studying English in foreign countries would be influenced in childhood. Because of that if a child goes to a foreign country, he or she would stay in a native speaker’s home. Then they would learn not only a language but also a country’s culture. Moreover, studying abroad would make a person’s world view different from other people. If someone studies in a foreign country, they would have many kinds of experience. For example, a friend of mine studied for six months in the Great Britain. During that time, he had many kinds of experience. Actually, he used be a soccer player in high school, so he had a wish that someday playing soccer with other country’s people in a country where has a lot of famous soccer team. A few years later, he decide that studying English in the Great Britain. When he went to London, there were a lot of ball grounds, so he tried to play with foreigners. Then he could not speak English, but he could join with them through playing soccer. After that, he could improve playing skill as well as he speaks English well.
The second advantage is to study in better educational environment than home country. Every year a lot of students come to the United States to study because there are many prestigious schools. According to the research the United States government spends a half trillion dollars on education in a year. If someone graduated from prestigious school, he or she would get job easily and desirable position. In addition, there are different from their home country’s teaching method, resources, and materials. American college’s teaching method is totally different with Asian college’s teaching method. According to the research Asian’s classes are more informal than the classes in the United States schools. Students are placed in groups, which allow a great deal of movement and ask many questions to professor during a class.
The third advantage is to make friends through studying abroad. A friend is very important in life, so an author said a friend is fortune of life because it is very important in life.
In conclusion, studying abroad brings a lot of benefits. A person’s life could be changed through studying abroad because they will get a lot of ability.

Thanksgiving

This is my first time Thanksgiving in the United States. I heard many times from many people that big sale in Thanksgiving, and holiday is so long, so I really excited and glad. My home country, Korea also has a Thanksgiving Day it is one of major holidays. Almost Korean people go to their hometown and meet whole family members in Thanksgiving so always heavy traffic on freeways. There are three things thankful for this year. First, I would like to thank for my parents. Since I was a junior high school student, I tried to studying abroad, but it was not easy for me. Because I had had many obstacles to progress that my country's financial panic and joined army. So I had to delay my dream, but eventually I came to the United States on March. Likewise, I got part of my dreams because my parents made my all of circumstance for studying abroad. So I really appreciate, and they always support me through love and everything. Second, I would like to thank for my girlfriend. I have been going with her for three years, and she had been waiting for me for a year when I joined army service and then I decided to study abroad for my future. But it was not delight for her because if I go to other country, we could not stick together, so I made her sad. After that, we kept in touch by phone, e-mail, and messenger, a few month later, she came to the United States. Then she had a good position in her job, but she abandoned everything because of me.Third, I would like to thank for my ALP teachers. I have been studying here for seven months, and I have had some teachers in my school. Before, I came to the United States, I almost did not know about English. But they taught me that writing skill, grammar, vocabulary, etc, so my English ability has been improved. So I can communicate with people and writing journal and essay by English. To sum up, I have many things for thank around me, and I would like to make more thankful things in this year.

Is it ever okay to lie? In which circumstances?

Lying for Something

Since we was a child, we learned that lying is bad behavior but sometimes lying is helpful for people, so they tell a lie for many urgent business. There are three reasons for lying is okay. First, lying is helpful that someone got some trouble. If someone of my close relationship people got some trouble, I would tell a lie to them because it is sometimes helpful. When I was a young, one of my cousins who my aunt got cancer of stomach. But her doctor said if patient does not know about illness, she would be better. Because stress is one of get illness reasons, so a doctor entreated to us. After that, we had been never talking about her condition of illness, so she could get better than before through medical treatment. Then she knew about that her illness was just a cold. Second, lying is helpful to avoid embarrassing moment. If someone made a big mistake, they could avoid embarrassing moment through tell a lie. When I was a junior high school student, I got terrible grade on final exam, so I concealed my grade record. Because a teacher let me do that get one of parents' signature on the grade record. A few days later, a teacher asked me about the record, then I said I lost because my dog bit that. Fortunately, she believed that, so I could avoid that moment. Third, lying is bring happy circumstance. Last Christmas eve, I had made a surprise event for my girl friend. It was my winter vacation, but she was working, so I could make perfect situation. One of my friends who was working at the shop that sell the party stuff, so I easily got a lot of balloon at a low price. When I got in the room, he was really surprised and dance with joy. To sum up, Lying is orginally bad behavior, but it is occasionally helpful or bringing happy circumstance.

Does it matter what strangers think of you? Do you care if everyone likes you or are you content just being yourself? Write a paragraph explaining your answer.

If someone does not like me, I would care about that. Because society is living together, so I should keep good relationship with other people. If I keep good relationship, I could be success in the future because relationship is as important as money. When I was a high school student, I fought with my classmate, so we had not been talking for two weeks. After that, I met him accidentally in school, I was embarrassed and uncomfortable. But sometimes I do not need to care about that because if I care too much about that, I would be tired. Everyone has a unique personality, so it is impossible that all of people get along together.

A Dancer

One full moon night in the rainy season, a man who lived in an apartment on the 13th floor felt alone and bored. His apartment had lost electricity because of the thunderstorm. Therefore, he held a candle in his hand and then put it on the table. Suddenly, the window was opened by the wind. Then he tried to close the window. At that moment, he looked at the opposite building, and he saw a woman who was dancing. However, he couldn’t see her clearly because there was the heavy rain. Strangely, he didn’t see her again until the next full moon, and she was still dancing. She wore a white dress, and she danced like a butterfly. He fell in love with her and really wanted to meet her. In the next morning, he went to her apartment, but no one answered the door. Next time when he saw her in full moon night again, he ran to her apartment immediately. He knocked on the door, and he waited for her. A few minutes later, he knocked again, and the door opened slowly. He went inside slowly and saw a dirty room with old furniture and many spider webs. The room smelled disgusting. When he walked into the room where she was dancing, he couldn’t believe his eyes. There was an empty room except for a noose swinging back and forth by the wind.!
