These days, there is a lot of competition over the world because of globalization. If someone does not want to be behind other people, they should go to foreign countries to study. A lot of people think that foreign countries have many things better than their home country. Particularly, many of them go to North America and Europe to fulfill their dream. Studying abroad has three major advantages. These include that to learn different culture, to study in better educational environment, and to make many friends.
The first advantage is to learn different culture. A lot of people who are from different countries live together in North America and Europe. As you know, every country has a unique culture, so people can share their own culture in society. These days, a lot of parents want to send their children to foreign countries to studying language because people never forget a memory when they learn in childhood. One day, I saw a television program that was story about children studying English in foreign countries. It said that studying English in foreign countries would be influenced in childhood. Because of that if a child goes to a foreign country, he or she would stay in a native speaker’s home. Then they would learn not only a language but also a country’s culture. Moreover, studying abroad would make a person’s world view different from other people. If someone studies in a foreign country, they would have many kinds of experience. For example, a friend of mine studied for six months in the Great Britain. During that time, he had many kinds of experience. Actually, he used be a soccer player in high school, so he had a wish that someday playing soccer with other country’s people in a country where has a lot of famous soccer team. A few years later, he decide that studying English in the Great Britain. When he went to London, there were a lot of ball grounds, so he tried to play with foreigners. Then he could not speak English, but he could join with them through playing soccer. After that, he could improve playing skill as well as he speaks English well.
The second advantage is to study in better educational environment than home country. Every year a lot of students come to the United States to study because there are many prestigious schools. According to the research the United States government spends a half trillion dollars on education in a year. If someone graduated from prestigious school, he or she would get job easily and desirable position. In addition, there are different from their home country’s teaching method, resources, and materials. American college’s teaching method is totally different with Asian college’s teaching method. According to the research Asian’s classes are more informal than the classes in the United States schools. Students are placed in groups, which allow a great deal of movement and ask many questions to professor during a class.
The third advantage is to make friends through studying abroad. A friend is very important in life, so an author said a friend is fortune of life because it is very important in life.
In conclusion, studying abroad brings a lot of benefits. A person’s life could be changed through studying abroad because they will get a lot of ability.

Journal Entry #34

The Advantages of Studying Abroad

Every year the number of students studying abroad is increasing. What three things are you most thankful for?

Thanksgiving

This is my first time Thanksgiving in the United States. I heard many times from many people that big sale in Thanksgiving, and holiday is so long, so I really excited and glad. My home country, Korea also has a Thanksgiving Day it is one of major holidays. Almost Korean people go to their hometown and meet whole family members in Thanksgiving so always heavy traffic on freeways. There are three things thankful for this year. First, I would like to thank for my parents. Since I was a junior high school student, I tried to studying abroad, but it was not easy for me. Because I had had many obstacles to progress that my country's financial panic and joined army. So I had to delay my dream, but eventually I came to the United States on March. Likewise, I got part of my dreams because my parents made my all of circumstance for studying abroad. So I really appreciate, and they always support me through love and everything. Second, I would like to thank for my girlfriend. I have been going with her for three years, and she had been waiting for me for a year when I joined army service and then I decided to study abroad for my future. But it was not delight for her because if I go to other country, we could not stick together, so I made her sad. After that, we kept in touch by phone, e-mail, and messenger, a few month later, she came to the United States. Then she had a good position in her job, but she abandoned everything because of me.Third, I would like to thank for my ALP teachers. I have been studying here for seven months, and I have had some teachers in my school. Before, I came to the United States, I almost did not know about English. But they taught me that writing skill, grammar, vocabulary, etc, so my English ability has been improved. So I can communicate with people and writing journal and essay by English. To sum up, I have many things for thank around me, and I would like to make more thankful things in this year.

Journal Entry #31

Is it ever okay to lie? In which circumstances?

Lying for Something

Since we was a child, we learned that lying is bad behavior but sometimes lying is helpful for people, so they tell a lie for many urgent business. There are three reasons for lying is okay. First, lying is helpful that someone got some trouble. If someone of my close relationship people got some trouble, I would tell a lie to them because it is sometimes helpful. When I was a young, one of my cousins who my aunt got cancer of stomach. But her doctor said if patient does not know about illness, she would be better. Because stress is one of get illness reasons, so a doctor entreated to us. After that, we had been never talking about her condition of illness, so she could get better than before through medical treatment. Then she knew about that her illness was just a cold. Second, lying is helpful to avoid embarrassing moment. If someone made a big mistake, they could avoid embarrassing moment through tell a lie. When I was a junior high school student, I got terrible grade on final exam, so I concealed my grade record. Because a teacher let me do that get one of parents' signature on the grade record. A few days later, a teacher asked me about the record, then I said I lost because my dog bit that. Fortunately, she believed that, so I could avoid that moment. Third, lying is bring happy circumstance. Last Christmas eve, I had made a surprise event for my girl friend. It was my winter vacation, but she was working, so I could make perfect situation. One of my friends who was working at the shop that sell the party stuff, so I easily got a lot of balloon at a low price. When I got in the room, he was really surprised and dance with joy. To sum up, Lying is orginally bad behavior, but it is occasionally helpful or bringing happy circumstance.

Journal Entry #30

Does it matter what strangers think of you? Do you care if everyone likes you or are you content just being yourself? Write a paragraph explaining your answer.

If someone does not like me, I would care about that. Because society is living together, so I should keep good relationship with other people. If I keep good relationship, I could be success in the future because relationship is as important as money. When I was a high school student, I fought with my classmate, so we had not been talking for two weeks. After that, I met him accidentally in school, I was embarrassed and uncomfortable. But sometimes I do not need to care about that because if I care too much about that, I would be tired. His apartment had lost electricity because of the thunderstorm. Therefore, he held a candle in his hand and then put it on the table. Suddenly, the window was opened by the wind. Then he tried to close the window. At that moment, he looked at the opposite building, and he saw a woman who was dancing. However, he couldn’t see her clearly because there was the heavy rain. Strangely, he didn’t see her again until the next full moon, and she was still dancing. She wore a white dress, and she danced like a butterfly. He fell in love with her and really wanted to meet her. In the next morning, he went to her apartment, but no one answered the door. Next time when he saw her in full moon night again, he ran to her apartment immediately. He knocked on the door, and he waited for her. A few minutes later, he knocked again, and the door opened slowly. He went inside slowly and saw a dirty room with old furniture and many spider webs. The room smelled disgusting. When he walked into the room where she was dancing, he couldn’t believe his eyes. There was an empty room except for a noose swinging back and forth by the wind.!

Journal Entry #28

Please post your pictures from the ALP Halloween party. If you were going to Las Vegas, where would you go and what would you do? Lastly, do you have any suggestions on how I can win a lot of money? Which games do you like to play?

Las Vegas

If I were going to Las Vegas, I wouldn't gamble because it is waste money. I have been to Las Vegas two times, so I know that no gambling is win the money and little probability of win a lot of money. The first time travel to Las Vegas, when I was a junior high school student, so I couldn't do anything myself. After that, on this February I visited to Las Vegas again, but I didn't gamble again because I heard from tour guider about gambling. Then every tourist was paying attention to tour guider's introduction how to win a lot of money. It was touching a slot machine's slot, if some gamblers drop a coin many times in slot, it will generate heat. But it is impossible for gambler because it is special person's job, so if someone tried to like this, it is going to big deal in casino. On the other hand, there are a lot of good things in Las Vegas that many kinds of show, shopping, sightseeing, and eating. Most impressive memory in Las Vegas is a lot of beautiful hotels and night view, so I was looking around many hotels and street. There was some famous city's miniature hotel that New York, Paris, and Cairo, so those looked like real cities. When I used live in Korea, I saw 'Oceans 11" that was taken in Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas, so I wanted to go to there. A few years later, I have been to Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas, so I was glad and could see movie background, and I have seen a fountain's playing. Also, I have been to other famous hotels and took pictures. I think that almost people don't move by day and night of Las Vegas is as clear as day.

Journal Entry #26

Compare and contrast two sports.

Basketball and Soccer

Although basketball and soccer are using the net, but there are quite a few differences. One difference is body part. When people play basketball, they use both hands because it is rule in basketball, and they never use the foot in the game. If someone use the foot in a basketball game, it would be foul. On the other hand, when people play soccer, they use both feet, but sometimes they use both hands as someone got throwing chance. A second of difference is height. In basketball game, height is important to player because it is advantageous. A player who is position in center height is 200cm, but other player who is position in point guard height is 185cm. In this case, if point guard has a ball, it would be easy stealing for center, so height is important for basketball player. However, it doesn't matter for soccer player because they are not usually bound a ball in the sky, so they need quickness in the game. A third of difference is game time. In basketball game, there are four part of time those twelve minutes in a quarter. On the other hand, there are two part of time those forty five minutes in a half in soccer game. All in all, though there are differences between basketball and soccer, both games could make a good relationship and party in the world.

Journal Entry#25

Compare and contrast two major fast food restaurants.

Burger King and Subway

Although Burger King and Subway is famous fast food restaurant over the world, there are quite a few differences. One difference is calorie. One of Burger King's hamburgers which calorie is almost thousand, moreover, almost people eat with meal that include French fries and drink. Likewise, if someone ate a meal in Burger King, they would eat over the thousand calories. On the other hand, one of Subway's sandwiches which calorie is just 350 and they also has a meal that includes chip and drink. No matter how much someone eats in Subway, they would eat less the 500 calories. A second difference is material in burger or sandwich. In Burger King, if I order for burger, I would chose just three things more material that bacon, cheese, and onion. However, if I order for sandwich in Subway, I would choose many kinds of material that vegetables and meats. Also, almost healthy people particular about food and like vegetable, so many people go to Subway than Burger King. A third difference is atmosphere. Burger King atmosphere is almost same with other normal fast food restaurant, but Subway have unique and fresh atmosphere, so when someone goes to Subway, they could feel that Subway use fresh and clean food material. All in all, though there are differences between Burger King and Subway, both restaurants are famous and need for a meal.

Journal Entry #23

How to make your favorite dish. Give the recipe and instructions for making your favorite dish. See the example on page 105 (Eggs).

How to Make a Kim-Chi Fried Rice

My favorite dish is Kim-Chi fried rice. Kim-Chi is traditional Korean food, and we also eat rice, so those are mix together but it is not traditional food. And I like fried rice, so I usually make a Kim-Chi fried rice. How to make a Kim-Chi fried rice, the first step is you need some materials for that Kim-Chi, rice, spam, eggs, and olive oil. Next put spam and Kim-Chi on kitchen plate and chop them like a small Lego block and then you pour the olive oil in pan. The second step is put Kim-Chi and spam in the pan and roast them. Then put the rice in the pan and roast with Kim-Chi and spam. As you roast them, you take out another pan and break two eggs in the small bowl and then stir it. Next you pour the eggs in the pan and then wait two minutes. As you wait for eggs, you should roast one more that spam, rice, and Kim-Chi. Then when you finish roast them, take out dish and put Kim-Chi fried rice in the dish. The third step is put the fried egg on the fried rice and then pour the ketchup on. Finally, enjoy your Kim-Chi fried rice with soda or any drinks.

Journal Entry #22

How to lose 10 pounds in two days.

Lose 10 Pounds in two days

I think a lot of obesity people live in the United States. Why they are get fat because they always eat too fatty foods and much drink soda. But if they change eating habit, could lose weight and they should fellow this two directions. First, only drink water and too much do exercise. When you wake up in the morning, drink one bottle of water and then go to the park. While you go to the park, you cannot bring your water bottle and run fast. Next when you arrive at the park, shout loudly many times and then you drink one bottle of water. Next go to gym and do exercise and swim each one hour and then go to bed, but it does not matter when you go to early. Second, if you want to lose weight in two days, should eat only vegetable and fruit. I think it is best way for lose weight. The first step is when you have a meal in a day, you should eat a bunch of grape. And it is discovered by scientist recently, so if you have not a meal, do not worry about your health.

Journal Entry #21

How to find/choose a marriage partner.

How to Find a Marriage Partner

There are three methods for how to find a marriage partner. First, get through a marriage friend's matchmaking. A few years ago, one of my mother's friends' daughter was single, and she did not have a boy friend, so my mother introduced a man to her. Also, he was my mother's friend's son and single, and they met in a hotel coffee shop. After that, they had been meeting for two months and then got married. Likewise, I think almost people get through a marriage friend's matchmaking. Second, through a club meeting. When I used live in Korea, a lot of people were belong to Internet club. There were many kinds of clubs that sports, collect something, movies, fashion, and so on. And they had periodical meeting in offline so had a enjoy time that have a meal and drinking;then, they could make a friend, so if they fall in love, could get married. I could see in my club not only just couple but also married couple. Third, through a marriage agency. These days, a lot of people has married by a marriage agency but I think it is finally method of find a marriage partner because it is expensive and not naturally. If someone really wants to join the agency, should prepare the profile and photo because it is important for meeting. And you should find a partner and then have date many times because they don't know personality each other in short time. The best way of marriage is through a friend because people could trust their friends, so they would introduce nice people.

Journal Entry #24

A Pioneer of Korea: Minister. He was born in Pennsylvania on February 6th, 1858. A hundred years ago, He came to Korea and he has made great things. When he came to Korea, we did not know about a new culture that modern knowledge, religion, clothes, sport and so on, and he brought them for us. Originally, His purpose was to introduce Christianity so he preached to people, and he established church in Seoul and it was first church in Korea but Christianity was not easy settle down because Korean government were persecution for Christianity. Then, Korea had only two religions which Buddhism, Confucianism because those were country religion so almost people believed them, but Christianity has been legality after sovereign power. And than he was established schools that 'Pai-Chai high school' and 'Yon-Sei University' those were also first modern and Christian schools and they could have had education. Before, a lot of people were illiterate because Korea was agriculture society so almost people did farming. When he opened school, it was free for anybody and it was like revolution of education. After then he brought up a lot of talent people various field and those of them who were president of Korea, scientist, artist, musician, writer, politician and so on. And we did not know how to play a lot of sport but he introduced that soccer and baseball. These days, Korea has a lot of soccer and baseball teams, and we play good at soccer so we had good job at the 2002 World Cup.
In conclusion, he has made a lot of great things for us, and I am Christian and graduated Pai-Chai high school, so I really appreciate and respect him.

Journal Entry #20

Topic: There are three types of people in this world. (Don't give easy answers like "tall, short, fat, skinny, etc.")

Three Types of People

Many kinds of people live in the earth but I would like to talk about three personality. There are three types of people that positive, negative, and unmindful. First, there are positive type people. I think that personality is important for people's life because it could control the mind. Positive people have a lot of benefit better than other people because they could keep relaxing mind. And they get along with any people and could easily solve the problem when they got some troubles. Because they are behavior positively and live in comfort. One day, I saw medical TV show and a doctor said relaxing and positive mind could make healthy body. Second, there are negative type people. If someone has negative type, they would always got trouble and tired. And they always get angry and have a complaint, so they would damage to around people. Negative people never satisfied that grade, life, job, friends, etc. Third, there are unmindful people. This type people doesn't have any interest it is boring for life, so they are usually saying "whatever, whenever, I don't care,..". And they miss many opportunities. In conclusion, I want to be a positive type person because it could make healthy mind and body. But if there were only one personality in the world, it should be a robot because everyone behave same.

Journal Entry #19

Topic: Being single has many advantages.

Being Single

Sometimes, being single is better than a couple. There are three reasons for being single. First, being single could save the money. If someone has a boy or girl friend, they would spend much money for date. I have a girl friend, and we got to know each other tree years ago. When I was single, I had a job, so I could deposit money. It was not much money, but I was satisfied my life. One day, I met my girl friend and we became a couple. After that, I could not deposit money in the bank, and when I saw my statement, fell a depress because there were no money. I think that if I didn't have a girl friend, I could buy a used car because we have been for tree years, so we had many anniversary then, I gave a lot of presents to her. Second, being single could take hobby. As you know, bing single has a lot of free times. If someone has a boy or girl friend, they could not take a hobby because there are many obstacle. I think that almost girl likes always stay together boyfriend. In my case, I was really interesting in snow boarding, but my girl friend didn't like winter sports, so I could not join the snow board team. One of my friends who got crazy at basketball, and he had a girl friend. But they had always been fought each other because he had played basketball every weekend eventually, they broke up. Third, being single could avoid the trouble. A couple always argue about friend and many things. If a boy has a girl friend, they would always argue about something. As you know, they have been living for a long time each other, so they have unique life style. Most of reason for divorce that charaterstic, life style and etc but it is not a big deal for single. In conclusion, I think that being single is so lonely and boring. If there were only one gender, it would be boring, so God made two genders and their friends animals.

Journal Entry #18

Topic: Playing sports has many advantages.

Playing Sports

These days, a lot of people enjoy sports because we could get many things from sports. There are three reasons for playing sports. First, playing sports is good for health. It is extraordinary reason but most of important thing. In my case, since I was a child, I had been suffering from many disease, so I could not enjoy them. When I had a physical education class, I could not play soccer and basketball with classmates, so I should have sit on the chair. After, I had joined army service for two years, so I had to had much works that exercise and playing soccer with peers and seniors, and then I could develop my physical strength. Second, playing sports is good for relationship. Almost sport is playing with other people, so if someone wants to play sport, they would looking for other members. When I used live in Korea, there were a lot of amateur sport teams that soccer, baseball, and basketball. And my older brother who really likes playing baseball, so he joined baseball team in the church. And he had some games and had meals with members, so he could know many people in the church. I also liked playing baseball, but I was not good at baseball, so I could not join the game. And some of my friends those were good at playing soccer so joined village soccer team it was playing every Sunday. One day, I met my friends in the bar, but there were another person who was one of their soccer team members, so I joined with them and talked to each other and I could make a friend. Third, playing sports is good for body shape. Almost women are enjoying sport for their body shape. Sometimes, when I go to fitness club, I could easily see a lot of women. Before, I thought that almost men wants to made nice body shape, so they do exercise very hard. But it was wrong because I saw in TV about that not only celebrity women but also ordinary women do exercise everyday for their body shape. In conclusion, we could get many things from playing sports. If someone wants keep their health, body shape, and relationship, they should steadily playing sports.

Journal Entry #17

Summarize the movie we are going to watch. :)

My Big Fat Greek Wedding

I have seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding it was second time to watch but was pretty good again. When I was twenty years old, I saw this movie, but I couldn't understand about that love story of Ian Miller and Toula Portokalos because of I was a young, so I did not have interesting in wedding. And then I grow up, I am twenty four years old, so I have interesting in wedding because I have a girl friend, and we have been together for three years. It was story about that thirty years old ugly Greek woman Toula Portokalos and handsome American man Ian Miller fell in love, and they wanted to get marry. Toula was in big Greek family, and she has a lot of cousins so was ashamed of that. The other hand, Ian was in common American family but was an only child. One day, Ian went to Toula family's restaurant with friend and Toula was waitress in there. When she was saw him, was attracted for him, but she couldn't talk anything to him because she did not have courage. And then Toula was changed her outlooks so could join her aunt's travel agency. After, Ian was walking on the street and accidentally saw Toula, so they were hanging out at the office and he asked her out for dinner. But their parents were opposed to the match because he was not a Greek man, so he was tried to be a Greek man. Eventually, they got married and were happy. I want to admire to Ian's efforts, also say he is really nice guy because he did everything for Toula, and actually was be a Greek man. But I couldn't understand that her parents why they opposed to wedding. I think that if some couple wants to get married, they should not have care about that age, religion, race and etc.

Journal Entry #16

Describe your most embarrassing moment. And I was excited at travel because I was first grade in high school and met a lot of new friends. But there were many rules for students that we could not drink and go out during the night because those are illegal for under nineteen year old people, so we needed to strategy that conceal the beer from view. In the midnight, every student was fall asleep, but some of my friends and I did not sleep, and we moved agilely for drink alcohol. While we drank a beer, a rigorous teacher who was opened the door by unexpected, so we were really startled and put away drinks, but it was too late. After, he called us out, and then we were afraid and nervous because of punishment. A teacher beat us with a heavy stick, so we could not stand up but got beaten three times. And then he let us brought the beer, so I thought that he will drink the beer with other teachers, but I made a wrong estimate. He started sharing cups and pured out beer for us, so we were confused, and he let us drink a cup of beer. After that, he gave advice to us, and we went to sleep. Seven years later, now I thought that he was nice teacher and I could realize many things of life wisdom from him.

Journal Entry #15

Research Halloween online and write a paragraph summarizing the holiday. And I suppose be that almost party people did not know about history of Halloween and they enjoyed the party like a looney and wore traditional customs. In autumn, we have only one long holiday that Chu-Suk it is like Thanks giving holiday but those have totally different mean. However, I have been living in the United States for seven months, and I heard and saw many times on the street and shops, so I got interested in Halloween this time will be my first Halloween day. But I did not know history of Halloween, so I read story from Internet site about that Halloween started in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and those of some people immigrated to the United States so they brought their culture. Originally, new year day was November 1st in ancient Western Europe and the name of the holiday was All Hallows' eve on October 31st, so it name have been changed that Halloween. Before, I was really expecting and exciting because it was free for ALP students so I quickly singed up for that last week. In the truth, I have been to Universal Studios three times so it was fourth time but I don't have any good memories for there because I was unlucky when I went to there. Last month, my girl friend came to United States and we went to Universal Studios because she was curios about there and I told her many times. But, it was really bad because of too hot weather and crowd, and also vacation period, so we couldn't walk comfortable and take many rides, so she was an angry and disappointed. But this time was really funny and I had a great time with my friends because we could take many rides and some shows. When we went to Universal Studios, took pictures in front of entrance because next month is Halloween so, there decorated by scary stuffs. And then, we watched Shrek 4D and got studio tours. I think that Studio tour is best in Universal Studios, so if someone wants to go to there, I would recommend it because I have already seen four times and studios have never been changed about almost same story, but it was still funny when I got there. And we took the Jurassic Park ride it was so wet because when the ride fall, we got so much water but it was really exciting and then we took the Mummy ride it was also exciting and a little scary. Likewise, I had a great time so I made a good memory in Universal Studios.

Journal Entry #13

Write an academic paragraph. In our life, we could get easily benefits from fruits and vegetables. There are three reasons to eat fruits and vegetables. However, its result shows up when I was a junior high school student because pimples broke out on my face. And I was concern about my skin and going to hospital; then, a doctor also told me about that fruits and vegetables, so I was regret for my mother's advice, but it was too late. After that I have known about that many kinds of vitamin and materials are in fruits and vegetables so I have been eating that every meal. Second, if you wanted to have good health, ate fruits and vegetables. By a scientist theory, every morning to eat an apple is good for health because an apple makes special things in human body. When I used live in Korea, I could see many times that someone was in the hospital and their friends gave that filled in the basket by fruits for patient. And my mother had been giving an apple to me at every morning, so I could keep comfortable mind and condition during a day. And, the other scientist said, "When a person eat meat meal time, have to eat with vegetables." because a vegetable could counteracting toxic. When animals butchered, they got stress and afraid so made a toxin. Likewise, if someone eats only meat, their life would be short and painful by sick. Third, if you wanted to prevent from disease, you should eat fruits and vegetables. A few years ago, suddenly almost people got interesting about health because almost family started living in comfort so a lot of people wants to 'well-being life'. And among the part of reasons for 'well -being life' that eat fruits and vegetables, also many scientists figured out of benefits from fruits and vegetables. After that a lot of people opened fruit drink shop and many kinds of fruit and vegetable flavor added to foods. In conclusion, fruits and vegetables give a lot of benefit that nice skin, keep healthy body, prevent from disease, and etc for human.

Journal Entry #12

Describe your bedroom using spatial order signals. In my country, it is rarely and doesn't do that but looks liked happy so in the future, if I got married, I would be wedding at the beach.

Journal Entry #10

Today, I was selected as a possible juror (someone who performs jury duty). However, the court decided that they already had enough jurors. Part of me wishes that I could have participated in the case to see what it is like in the courtroom. However, part of me is glad that I don't have to miss class (because of my wonderful students and also the money). In America, the legal system includes lawyers, judges, and jurors. How does the legal system work in your country? Who decides whether a person is innocent or guilty?

Legal system in Korea

A lot of countries have different legal system because they have different culture. My country Korea legal system is a little different from American legal system but I don't know exactly about legal system. When I used live in Korea, I had watched that court TV show because it was popular program it was story about that a couple wanted to divorce so they were attended at court; then, there were only judge and lawyer so I didn't know why there were no public prosecutor. After that, I asked about court to my friend who was in law school, he said sometimes a court has different member but judge is always attended at court because judge has important position but juror couldn't be influence in Korea. Hundred years ago, Korea were controlled by Japan so many people arrested by Japanese police so many Koreans had bad feeling for them because they killed many people so till a few years ago, we had a little bad feeling about that. If someone report to the police, it means that someone has defect so we didn't like witness for someone but these days, a lot of things changed so we could attend at court for witness and it is not defect.

Journal Entry #9

What is a friend? I think that friend is keep in touching, sharing all of life, and have same interesting. But my mother said,"a friend is like a fortune becuase it is really important in life." Most of important in friendship is sharing all of things of life that sadness, happiness, secret, agony, and so on. In my case, when I was joined the army, one of my best friend whose father was dead so we were really sad but I couldn't go to my friend's father's funeral so I couldn't do anything for my friend. After that, I thought about a friendship that during the life, we could get a lot of happening and if I got a problem, I would expect to help for someone so we need a friend. And a friend is sharing not only sadness but also happiness. When I used live in Korea, my friend who was got married so all of my friends went to wedding because it was curious and first wedding among friends so we were enjoyed and congratulated for them. Second, keep in touch. Some of my friends live in Korea and I live in United States, so separate from them so far but I have been keeping touch easily with them because of Internet messenger and e-mail. Before, when I was a junior high school student, my friend who went to abroad for studying; then, we could use only mail so keep touching was very hard. Eventually, we couldn't keep touching. Third, have same interesting. When I was in high school, one of my classmate who was really liked about a car and I also interested so we could be a friend. Because we had a same interest and dream that we would get a luxurious car that BMW, Mercedes, Bentley, Lexus, and so on. After that, we had hanging out a lot of time for read car magazine and see a car convention.

Journal Entry #8

Tell me about your dream vacation. Since I was a child, I have been to Asia, North America, and Australia but I have never been to Europe ,so I have an illusion that drink a coffee at one of Firenze street, meet a friend at Spain square, put hand into Bocca del Verit that true of mouse, climb Mt. Alps and so on. Why I have interested in Europe, a lot of my friends went to there ,so I heard many times from them. If I went to Europe, I would get the Euro train pass and around Europe, and especially might have three things for travel. First, I want to go history of place that relic. When I was a high school student, I interested in world history ,so I was enthusiastic for studying; then, I read a lot of stories and saw a lot of pictures that the house of famous musician's birth, castles, Athens temples, and so on. Like this, Europe is live history of place. Second, I want to go to Paris where is most beautiful city in the world so most of people want to go there and an actor said "My country is America and my home town is Paris." in The Devil Wears Prada. And many beautiful places are there so if I went to go to Paris, I would go to where the Eiffel Tower, the Versailles Palace, Noteureudam Church, Louvre Museum and so on. Third, I want to go place of Mediterranean. One day, I saw a commercial at TV that an actor drank a cup of coffee at beautiful coast. And then, I searched in Internet so I had known beautiful place name that Mediterranean.

Journall Entry #7

Are you going to the Concert Under the Stars? Before, I came to Los Angeles with my family on January ,so we had a great time. When we came to Los Angeles, we went to many nice place where Universal Studios, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Korea Town, and so on. Among the places, I most like Hollywood where is a lot of people, performance places, theaters, nice restaurants, Hollywood star's hand and feet printing in front of Chinese theatre, and name was on the road. And many movie characters are there ,so I was surprising when I saw them. And it was my second time visiting for Hollywood. Six years ago, I came to here for visiting my cousin; then, I also went to Hollywood but I couldn't see that hand and feet printing because of raining and I saw around there in the car ,so I was really disappointed and angry. However, I realized my wish that took a picture with characters and saw Hollywood star's name on the road and, hand and feet printing.

Journal Entry #6

Write a narrative paragraph about an unforgettable experience in your life. This could be an earthquake like in the story on page 24 or it could be something different like your first dating experience. Be sure to use time order signals.

My unforgettable Experience

Four years ago, when I was twenty years old, I had to join for army service. For a Korean man, it is duty to serve in army service and separated from parents, friends, and girl friend so almost people fall in depressing and frustrating. Duty for army service time period is two years, and back then, I thought it was waste of my life time. However, after the army service, it gave me valuable memories for my life.
When I was twenty years old, I was afraid about the army service because I heard from other people that there was too much beating, too much exercise, and will eventually isolate from the society. However, Korean government did not give mercy and wait for me, and sent me the army warrant. And then I went to army training center there was scared and hated but six weeks later I had had strong spirit and health. After, I was positioned in combat police who is put down the demonstration so I felt scared and afraid but I was positioned in police station and taught about the traffic rules for children. When I taught about the children traffic education with police officer, they were loudly a favorable answered so they were very cute and lovely. After that, experience it was delightful and then a week later I received a letter from a child it content was “Thank you for your teaching!” so I felt delightful again.

Journal Entry #5

My favorite season: summer

My favorite season is summer because I like to go to beach and summer sport such as surfing, swimming and so on. I have enjoyed summer since I was a child and I have a lot of good memories of summer.
When I used to live in Korea, I always expected for summer vacation because I was really liked beach so I had hanging out at the beach with my friends and occasionally family.
One of Korea beaches, my favorite beach is Joong-moon Beach in Je-ju Island. Last summer, I had gone to Je-ju Island with my family and there were beautiful landscape and a lot of funny stuff so I had a good time. What I most liked there it was a submarine because I had particular experience and I saw many kinds of beautiful fishes but I couldn't touch them so I was only taking pictures.
I had moved in California six months ago. I love California because of beautiful beaches and nice weather so I have been enjoying summer.
Last month, I had changed school so I could get a vacation for two weeks; then, I had gone to two beaches where Laguna Beach and Huntington Beach with my friends. Both beaches have a unique characteristic but I liked Laguna Beach more than Huntington Beach because there were beautiful houses, palm trees, restaurant, and so on it was seems to like Europe. When I used to live in Korea, I was interesting in surfing but I couldn't surf at the beach unfortunately, wind was so weak and then, I was enjoyed surfing at the Huntington Beach and it was really exciting.

Journal Entry #4

Hi! I am Kenny Lee. I am from Cal state Fullerton ALP 4C class student.
These days, we have a problem with that we cannot join for Wednesday Fun Lunch because of my class schedule. I have never been there because I am new student this semester but I heard of classmate about Wednesday Fun Lunch. He always expect for Wednesday Fun Lunch because it is funny and could English speaking practice and make a new friend but third class is 11:30 to 12:45 on Wednesday so we could join only fifteen minutes. Actually, we couldn't join for Wednesday Fun Lunch because when we finished class, it was almost finished.
In my opinion, Wednesday Fun Lunch is very important part of English activity program.
First, we can improve English skill that pronunciation, speaking, vocabulary and so on. Second, meeting American students is not easy for ALP student because almost student are not take a university class. Third, we cannot make more friends in ALP because we have different class schedule and the college has a large campus.
Likewise, we need to change class schedule on Wednesday. Please accept this letter for us.
Thank you.

Journal Entry #3

A person who made a different: Minister.
